Life Legacy
Stephen E. Darst 61 of Galesburg, Illinois passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:34 A.M. at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Stephen was born January 15, 1951 in Macomb, Illinois the Son of Lyle and Roxie (Nelson) Darst. He served in the Army from 1961 – 1971 earning numerous awards and medals.
He is survived by his three children Brittney Darst of Galesburg, Danny Darst of Galesburg and Shelby Howard of Cameron, five grandchildren Jacob Darst, Cameron Darst, Brooke Mixon, Antonio Mitchelle and Skylar Howard, two brothers Terry Darst of Galesburg and Mike (Betty) Vogler of Galesburg, and one sister Debbie Darst McKinney of Galesburg, Girlfriend of 22 years Lynda Norvell of Galesburg and step daughter Michelle Norvell of Galesburg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one niece Cierra Lucas.
Stephen enjoyed fishing, playing the drums, watching the Cleveland Browns play football and spending time with his grandkids.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville. Rev. Leigh Nygard officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home. Internment will take place at East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg with military rites conducted by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 Honor Guard.
