Life Legacy
Alice LaJune Stanton 89, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 8:12 P.M. at the Genesis Medical Center in Silvis, Illinois.
Alice was born on January 17, 1923 in Sherrard, Illinois the daughter of George and Melvina (Ralston) McNeil. She married Marvin Ralph Stanton on May 30, 1942 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death April 4, 2004.
She is survived by her daughter Carole (Joe) Short of Abingdon, Illinois; three sons Larry Stanton of Galesburg, Illinois, Kenneth L. (Linda) Stanton of Coal Valley, Illinois and Ronald Stanton of Knoxville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Scott and Brett Stanton, Doug (Wendy) McAdam and Jeffrey Crews; three great grandchildren, Jacob McAdam, Cory Martin and Jonathon Crews; one great great grandchild Caiden Martin. She is also survived by her brother Wayne “Bud” McNeil of Roscoe, Illinois.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and two brothers.
She enjoyed watching her hummingbirds, sewing and was a past member of the Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Alice retired from Maytag in Galesburg.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Sue Bryce will be officiating.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial will be in the Knoxville, Cemetery. Memorial donations are to the donor’s choice. Online condolences and sympathy cards can be made at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
