| Lawrence E. "Larry" Lentz, age 84, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 11:56 A.M. on Monday, December 5, 2011 at his residence in Knoxville, Illinois.
He was born on December 22, 1927 in Joy, Illinois the son of Cluster and Helen Newton Lentz. He was raised and educated in Galesburg, Illinois graduating from Galesburg High School, Class of 1945. He married Mary Dolores Rhoades on October 4, 1947 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 5, 1997. He later married Aloha Jensen in January 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona. She survives him. Surviving are two daughters, Deborah "Deb" (Rick) Boyer of Roseville, California and Carole (Melvin) Robbins of Keithsburg, Illinois. Three grandchildren: Todd (Jeanne) Boyer, Chad Boyer, and Cory (Lorri) Landon. Two step-grandchildren: Michael and Matt Robbins. Seven Great Grandchildren: Khylie Boyer, Ella and Alex Landon, Nathan Wilkie, Alyssa, Ashlyn, and Matt Robbins. Two brothers: Louis (Dee) Lentz of Aurora, Illinois, and Wilbur (Betty) Lentz of Galesburg. Three sisters: Wilma Jean McMichael of Peoria, Cheryl Lasley of Galesburg, and Lavonne "Bonnie" (Jan) Ramp of Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife. He was employed by Gale Products of Galesburg, Illinois as a machinist from 1947 until he retired in 1977. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 201 North Linwood Road, Galesburg, Illinois. |
