Biography

Delbert N. Eagle, 83, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, August 02, 2011 at 4:00 AM at OSF St Mary's Medical Center Galesburg Illinois.

Delbert was born on February 2, 1928 in Jonesville, Virginia the son of Marvin and Viola Haines Eagle. Delbert married Kathryn Sams in Las Vegas, Nevada in July of 1978. She survives of Galesburg, Illinois.

Also surviving are his children Cheryl (Dan) Koeritz of Wheaton, Illinois, Brad (Melodie) Eagle of Victoria, Illinois, Richard (Ruth) Eagle of Altona, Illinois, Step-Daughter Sandy Meinhart of Knoxville, Illinois, and Step-Son Steve (Debbie) Powers of Mohomet, Illinois. He is also survived by a Sister-in-Law Janet Eagle of Henderson, Illinois and 11 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Burl Eagle, James Eagle and Kenneth Eagle.

He was reared and educated in Altona, Illinois. After High School he joined the Navy at the end of WWII. He worked for Gale Products for over 30 years as a Foreman. He was a member of both Knoxville and Altona Masonic Lodges and also a member of the NRA. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid gun collector.

Per his request cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Altona Illinois. Memorials may be left to either the Knoxville or Altona Masonic Lodge. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory is handling local arrangements.
