Billie Jean Hensley, age 81 of Galesburg, Illinois died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 8:15 A.M. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. She was born on November 5, 1928 in Canton, Illinois, the daughter of John and Bertha Kruscinsky Bedwell. She married Ralph Hensley in 1966 in Rogersville, Tennessee.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Robert) Reams of Galesburg, Illinois and Sherry (Dave) Walker of Pasco, Washington; one son, Benjamin (Mary) Nicholson of Galesburg, Illinois; four grandchildren, Brian, Stephany and Nikiya Nicholson and Andrew Reams; five great grandchildren, Benjamin, Prescott, and Freya Nicholson; Alyssa Fisher; and Camden Carter; three sisters, Beverly Westerfield of St. David, Illinois, Violet (Wally) Sweet of Pekin, Illinois and Virginia (Bob) Bennett of San Antonio, Texas; five brothers, John Bedwell, Jr. of South Carolina, Russell Bedwell of Lewistown, Illinois, Larry Bedwell of Lewistown, Illinois, Virgil (Moneta) Bedwell of Canton, Illinois and Paul Bedwell of East Peoria, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Charles, David, and Gerald.
She was a cook for the Soangetaha Club House, Galesburg, Illinois, then was a caregiver in the area for many years. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, crocheting, and loved to fish.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded.
