Gertrude Sloan

Gertrude Sloan, age 90, of Sheridan, Wyoming formerly of Oneida, Illinois died at 11:15 P.M. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Sheridan Manor in Sheridan, Wyoming. She was born on August 18, 1919 in Woodhull, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph F. and Hilmar C. Bloomberg Kapple. She married Arlo Haywood Sloan on August 7, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1960.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Anne (Gary) Meece of Sheridan, Wyoming; two sons, Arlo Arkelle (Verna) Sloan of Osco, Illinois and Richard James (Donna) Sloan of Creve Coeur, Illinois; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter and two step great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, three sons, two brothers, one sister, and a granddaughter preceded her in death.
She reared and educated in Woodhull, Illinois. She was a housewife and a wonderful mother. She was member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Woodhull, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Oneida, Illinois with Visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Rev. David Pyell officiating. Burial will be in Oneida Cemetery in Oneida, Illinois. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
