Donald L. Rupert, age 59, of Galesburg, Illinois died on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 8:45 A.M. at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on March 31, 1950 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Carl E. and LaWanda Patterson Rupert. He married Deborah Berlett on August 14, 1976 in Galesburg, Illinois and later married Maria Alderman on October 6, 1994 at Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Illinois. She survives of Galesburg, Illinois.
Also surviving are a daughter, Angela Marie (Marcus) Hale of Canton, Illinois; a son, Douglas Ryan Rupert of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Samantha, Kimberly, Valerie and Connor Hale, and Cheyenne Rupert; a sister, Patricia (Gregory) Coe of Galesburg, Illinois and a brother, Robert Dean (Linda) Rupert of Galesburg, Illinois. His parents and one grandson: Caleb Hale preceded him in death.
He was raised educated in Galesburg, Illinois graduating from Galesburg High School in 1968. He served in the United State Air Force from July 22, 1969 to July 20, 1973 and May 18,1977 to June 16, 1977. He worked as a laborer for ADM in Galesburg, Illinois, then as a delivery person for Wonder Bread in Galesburg, Illinois, then lastly as a Real Estate Appraiser for Roger Hagerty in Galesburg, Illinois. Through the years he was a sign painter, painting racecars, buildings, trucks and signs. He attended Faith United Methodist Church with his wife. He was an avid CUBS and Bears Fan. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 of Galesburg, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Jean Hembrough and Mr. Mike Lummis officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville. Burial in East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Family.
