ANTHONY NEWCOMER, age 61, of 121 W Simmons, Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Knoxville, Illinois died at 8:50 A.M. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at his residence in Galesburg, Illinois. He was born on August 18, 1947 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of J. Paul and Virginia Smith Newcomer.
Surviving are an aunt, Charlotte Miller of Iowa City, Iowa and two cousins, Eric (Dena) Miller of Iowa City, Iowa and James (Tatiana) Miller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was reared and educated in Knoxville, Illinois graduating from Knoxville High School in 1965. He worked at Gale Products in Galesburg, Illinois for 17 years; then Independent Cab in Galesburg, Illinois for 1 year and as a delivery man for Happy Joe's Pizza in Galesburg, Illinois from 1987 until he retired in 2008. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Galesburg, Illinois. He was a member of Pacific Masonic Lodge # 66, A.F. & A.M. and Knoxville Chapter # 880, Order of the Eastern Star both in Knoxville, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Galesburg, Illinois. Bishop Michael Wynkoop officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois with Masonic Rites at 8:00 P.M. conducted by the Pacific Lodge #66 A.F. & A.M. of Knoxville, Illinois. Burial in Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Pacific Masonic Lodge # 66, A.F. & A.M. or the Knoxville Chapter # 880, Order of the Eastern Star.
